Take a minute to read Acts 6.1-7.
When the apostles needed to select servant-leaders to help meet the needs of the community, the Holy Spirit led them to three qualifications. Because these leaders had a similar role of servant-leadership, we believe each potential Team Leader should exemplify these three characteristics:
"Therefore, brothers, pick out from among you seven men 1) of good repute, 2) full of the Spirit and 3) of wisdom, whom we will appoint of this duty." - Acts 6.3, ESV
1. “of good repute” – I understand that being a leader in the church means that people are following me as I follow Christ, and, by God’s grace, I therefore commit to a life of integrity, in public and in private, on the stage and off the stage.
2. “full of the Spirit” – I understand that apart from God I can do nothing, so I commit to a lifestyle that allows the Holy Spirit to fill (i.e. control) me.
3. “full . . . of wisdom” – I understand that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, and I therefore commit to learning and maturing in my relationship to God primarily through Scripture and the teaching of the church.
